We are always on the look out for new talent, whether you are looking for
something to do in your spare time, something fun to do to get fit, or have aspirations to become a World Champion, come and
give water skiing a try.
There are several centres around the UK staffed by knowledgable volunteers
who would be happy to teach you. Go to the links page and click on British Disabled Waterski Association to find the nearest
place to ski near you.
Trick skiing is exactly what it sounds like. You have to perform two twenty
second passes with as many turns and jumps that you can fit in. All tricks have a designated point value depending upon the
degree of difficulty. The aim is to score as many points as possible.
Jump is a distance based event ( no points for style). Skiing over the ramp
which for disabled skiers can be a height of 1m, 1.25m, or 1.50m at a maximum speed for men of 57kph/35.4mph and for women
54kph/33.6mph. After the jump you need to ski away, no points for spectacular crashes but that does often entertain
the crowd.
